Built in 1947 by the Budd Company as a 56 seat long distance coach for the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. After the Seaboard & Atlantic Coast Line merger the car was renumbered to #5211. Sold to Amtrak and renumbered to #6024 after Amtrak installed additional seating which increased the capacity to 60 passengers, Amtrak later retired the car and it was sold into private ownership. The seats and luggage racks (seller will include at no additional cost for list price offer) were removed from the car in preparation to convert the car to dinner train service. Some of the mechanical details include: Good body with original side skirts, good side and center sills (was inspected and no defects were found), H couplers, restrooms intact, DC electrical system, steam heat, good wheels, grease bearings, ISSH trucks, 5.5 x 10 bearings, D-22 valves. This car would make a great addition to any dinner train or to be restored back as a coach.
