Built in 1948 by the Budd Company as part of a massive order of passenger equipment for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad to equip their still born streamlined train called “The Chessie”. After the C&O decided their new train would never run they operated the car for a short time before selling it the Rio Grande Railroad, who eventually sold the car into private ownership. Current upgrades to the car include all new glazing in the dome, new Northwest Rail Electric panels, new air conditioning condenser and evaporator units & blowers, updated wiring, new ADA restroom at vestibule end of the car, electric heat, new 480v/220v/110v transformers, new interior paint in dome area, center sill repairs, good car body, fair trucks,grease bearings, holding tanks.
