Sycamore Grove

Built in 1950 by the Budd Company for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a 10 roomette/6 double bed room sleeping car. It was originally assigned to the SP's famed Los Angeles - New Orleans train the Sunset Limited. Retired by Southern Pacific and sold to Amtrak, rebuilt into a Heritage Fleet sleeper by Amtrak with the addition of a Handi Cap roomette and renamed Sycamore Grove. Last assigned by Amtrak to Auto Train, retired and sold into private ownership. Please note that the owner was in the process of removing the roomettes to make a sleeper/lounge. They only removed part of the hardware (walls still in place) but all the hardware goes with car. Some of the mechanical details include: Good body, thick wheels, APEE bearings, ISSH, electric decelostats, disc brakes, HEP, 27 pin, MU, H couplers, marker lights, emergency lights, emergency windows, PA system, A/C , floor & OH heat, freeze protection, Amtrak electrical locker.
