The Lahaina Railroad started operations in 1969 as a tourist train in the Hawaiian town of Lahaina. Operating on five miles of track, the railroad gave tourists the chance to tour the sugar cane fields and enjoy some of the stunning scenery of Maui. The train has not been operating the last few years due to land lease issues, the owner has decided to sell the companies assets. There is no real estate being offered in this sale, just the physical assets that include locomotives, cars, track equipment, tools, rail, ties,etc. They buyer will be responsible for removing the assets from the property and arrange shipping, please include estimated removal time in any offer.

Locomotive Roster

Anaka
Built in 1943 by H.K. Porter Company of Pittsburgh, PA for the Carbon Limestone Company near Hillsville, PA. The locomotive was taken out of service in 1948 and Carbon Limestone replace all steam locomotives with new diesels. Purchased by Mr. Arthur La Salle of the American Railroad Equipment Association. In 1968, restoration work began by Harliss Specialties of North Irwin, PA to convert the locomotive for tourist excursion service. The exterior of the locomotive had various modifications to give it more of a wild west appearance, which included a new custom built tender. The locomotive was shipped to Maui Hawaii in April of 1970 and has been operating in tourist service on a tour of a sugar cane plantation. Some of the mechanical details include: 3 ft gauge, converted to burn used engine oil, 180 psi boiler pressure, 12,000 lbs of tractive effort, received a new boiler in 1985, flues expire 7/6/25.
