Long Island Railroad Coach #2939
Built in 1955 as a P72 commuter coach for the Long Island Railroad. Sold into private ownership in the early 1990's. Car is in fair condition and some of the mechanical attributes include: Good body and roof, D-22 brakes, grease bearings, fair to good wheels, H couplers, ISSH, truck mounted cylinders, needs new glazing, electric heat, belt driven air conditioning, vestibules at each end, markers. #2939 was one of several cars the Long Island experimented with by installing a rubber subfloor. The experiment was not successful and resulted in the bubbling up of the floor in several areas. There is an approx. 4' x 3' hole in the floor that was caused by the railroad cutting the section of floor out to gauge the effectiveness of the rubber subfloor.
