Built by the Wabash Railroad in March of 1952 as#2833 in their Decatur, IL shops. Repainted and renumbered in October 1966 to Norfolk & Western #562833. Taken out of service and stored in October 1977. and donated to private owner in October of 1977. By 1992 the car became a Birthday Party caboose at a McDonalds. Purchased in March of 2005 by a private owner and moved to property and converted into a guest cottage. Some of the car physical attributes include updated 200 amp electrical service, running water & sewer hookups, friction bearings, great body & roof, shower, toilet, sink (2), dining area, living/bedroom, refrigerator, heat, track and ties can be included, interior refinished with wood floors and walls/ceilings.
Note: Everything seen inside the caboose is included except for the framed pictures on the walls.

A- The cost to ship a caboose by truck is based on mileage and local crane costs. On an average, you can expect to spend a minimum of $8,000-$10,000 if a car is 1 to 2 hours from the final destination. And a minimum of $15,000-$25,000 if the car is further away. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and we do have several qualified companies we can recommend to assist in the shipping process. If the buyer plans on making the shipping arrangements with a service provider of their choosing, we can assist with speaking with the service provider on what will be required to get the car moved. Often a service provider will either quote high or won't quote at all if they have never moved railroad equipment. After speaking with us, they normally feel more at ease in quoting the job.
