Built in 1969 by EMD for the Illinois Central Railroad as a SD40A. The SD40A was built on the frame of a EMD SP45 and included a larger fuel tanks of 5000 gallon. Some of the mechanical attributes include 16 cylinder 645E3 block, approx 3,000 HP, rebuilt in 1994, one of two units still in existence, horns & number boards included, Dash 2 electricals (great condition), some rust repairs will be needed, body in fair condition, useable wheels, locomotive and mechicals complete condition, has new clean oil in prime mover, 26-C brake, oil bath bearings.
