Built in 1940 by the Budd Company for the Seaboard Air Line Railroad (#6502) as a 30 seat coach, attendants room, bar, observation lounge. Operated between New York City & St. Petersburg, FL until the SAL merger with Seaboard Coast Line (#5802) and then the car operated in regular service over the entire system. Sold to Amtrak (#3802) in the 1970’s and operated on many of their east coast NY-FL trains until retired and sold into private ownership. Rebuilt in the late 1980’s by private owner into an stylish Business Car with Art Deco accents.

As you enter the car from the observation platform walk into a very large observation lounge/dining room (car capacity day 20/sleeps 8), as you enter down the hall to the right of the lounge you pass the kitchen, original attendants room, 1 master bedroom and 2 double bedrooms. Some of the mechanical details include: 2 showers, 3 restrooms w/Microphor toilets and tanks, fairly new STADCO diesel generator, full kitchen, walnut interior (recently cleaned), stainless kitchen, electic cooktop, microwave, convection oven, electric heat, air conditioning, full HEP (car is kept on power), marker lights, rubber diaphragms, 27 pin, H couplers, good body and roof, OSSH drop equalizer trucks with APEE bearings ( car has updated trucks from an ex ARMY Hospital car), NEW 3" wheels installed by Amtrak, tread composition shoes, truck mounted cylinders, D-22 valves (last COT&S date 1/15/14), washer/dryer, recently blasted window band, current PC-1 inspection, PC2a inspection is in process,. Car made a one time move on Amtrak on 3/1/14, NOTE: If you plan to Amtrak certify this car it will need an engineering inspection and plans submitted to Amtrak for the platform modification.

Pacific Grove is ready for service and would make an great charter car in excursion service or a for use on a shortline/regional railroad for entertaining customers.
