Built by the Pullman Company in 1960-61 for the Chicago & North Western Railroad as commuter bi-level commuter cars for service out of Chicago. They were rebuilt in 1979 & 1982 and were in service up to just a few years ago. These car are VERY turnkey and will need very little to put into service. The bodies are in very good condition, there is a little rust on the the end sheets but overall the bodies are sound and water tight. These cars would work well for special events such as a Thomas the Tank engine weekend where you need high capacity coaches. Interiors are very complete and really only need to be cleaned.
Some of the mechanical details include: seating for 161 passengers each, H couplers, 26-C brakes, comp shoes, Twin 8 ton TRANE air conditioning units, electric floor and over head heat, restrooms, Timken 6x11 bearings, HEP, 27 pin, pa system. For detailed mechanical data please download the Mechanical Spec Sheet.
Please note that these cars have recently received some vandalism including some HEP cable stolen.
