Built in 1956 by the Pullman Company for the Seaboard Air Line Railroad as a 11 double bed room sleeper and used in service on the Silver Meteor. Sold to Amtrak in 1971, rebuilt by Amtrak in the 1980's in the Heritage Fleet program and use on Auto Train. Retired by Amtrak and sold to American Orient Express who operated the car as a staff sleeper on their cruise train. With the demise of American Orient Express the car was sold into private ownership. Tallahassee was Amtrak certified and should only need a PC-1 & PC2a inspection (last inspection 2002) for recertification, but it is in the best interest of a Buyer to have the car inspected by a Amtrak inspector. Some of the cars mechanical details include: Good body with stainless side sheets over steel construction, ISSH, disc brakes, 26C valves, HEP(some HEP wire has been removed), 27 pin, MU, APEE bearings, marker lights, emergency lights, freeze protection, floor heat, over head heat, air conditioning, emergency windows, shower, Microphor toilets, holding tanks, rubber diaphragms. Car will need some wheel work and is missing some HEP components.
