Built circa 1948 by the Budd Company for ill fated streamliner "The Chessie" that was proposed by the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad. The train was never operated and most of the equipment was either sold or operated on C&O secondary trains. We don't have all the history on the car but we assume it was retired by the C&O and sold to Amtrak who then most likely retired the car in the 1980's. With the exception of the seats the car is pretty intact and still has the original D/C electrical system and steam heat. In addition it also has a good body, H couplers, tread brakes with cast shoes, drop equalizer trucks, grease bearings, fair wheels.
