Built by ALCO in 1952 as an RS3m for the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad and was numbered 1522. Sold to the Illinois Central in 1972 and to the Texas & Northern Railroad in 1979. Texas & Northern rebuilt the unit utilizing the ALCO frame and EMD mechanicals and a Cummins KTA3067 prime mover (new prime mover installed approx 2 yrs ago), 26C brakes. This unit is in operating condition (has been stored for 12 mo) and some of the mechanical details include: MU (needs new receptacles), APEE bearings, double equalizer trucks, good body, NBB Control System remote control (needs new power supply), Gardner Denver compressor, AAR control stand, cast shoes.
