Built circa 1956 by EMD for the New Haven Railroad as a traditional diesel electric locomotive with the ability to operate as an electric locomotive via current collected from a third rail shoe. After a long career with the New Haven Railroad many of the FL9's were sold to Amtrak or Metro North Commuter. This locomotive has 2 rebuilt traction motors, new governor, new fuel pump, new batteries, new roof hatch, great body (with a lot of new steel vs filler) rebuilt control controller, 26 Air, 16-567C block, D-12 main gen, D-14 aux gen, 975 rebuilt air dryer, HEP plant removed but all components are still in place, 3rd rail pick up shoe and hardware removed, in operating condition.
