Built in 1924 as private car Nituna for R.T. Crane (founded R. T. Crane and Bro., a manufacturer of brass goods and plumbing supplies, in Chicago in 1855). Purchased by the Maine Central Railroad in 1929 and renamed Lone Tree. The car is of a traditional business car floor plan with an observation lounge, four bedrooms, toilet/shower, dining room and kitchen/pantry. We do not have current full exterior photos because the car has been tarped for several years keeping the rain an snow off the car. The listing photos do show the lower part of the side sheets and side sills which show no corrosion. Some of the car attributes include great exterior, E couplers, rotating end cap bearings, intact observation platform and railings, bolted pedestal drop equalizer trucks, original D/C electrical system, new wheels, cast shoes, steam heat, body mounted brake cylinder, Peruvian Mahogany Interior, brass floor heat covers, 2 compartments with upper and lower berths, shower rest room off main hall, single bedroom with one lower berth and connecting (to master bath), 1 one master room with full size lower berth and connecting bath, large dining room with original table, chairs & buffet, full kitchen/pantry and crew room.
NOTE: The lounge and dining room have a large commercial A/C unit mounted on the end wall of each room. This item can be removed to restore the rooms to their original appearance.
