#7000 was built for Union Pacific by American Car and Foundry. It was the first dome coach in a series of nine built for Union Pacific. In the early 2000's restoration was started for use on the American Orient Express, but the restoration was never completed
The dome coach is currently in an unrestored state. Both levels of the interior are able to be restored to your desired configuration. The Union Pacific specifications of the Dome Coach is 10 feet wide, 85 feet long. Height is 15 feet 10 inches from the rail to the top of the car. This car is one of ten identical cars in a series built for UP.
A curved stairway ascends to the dome. Original seating configuration of the dome was 24 people. Original seating on the A end of the car was 16 people and the B end seated 20 people.
Some of the mechanical details include: Good car body & roof, OSSH trucks, H couplers, rotating end cap bearings, original floor plan serviceable wheels, 26-C valves, (portions are removed but come with car).
