Built in 1956 by the Pullman Company as a five double bedroom sun room lounge car for the Seaboard Air Line Railroad and operated on their famed train the "Silver Meteor" between New York & Florida. Ownership of this unique car was transferred after the merger of the Seaboard Air Line with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad to the new corporation known as Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. SCL operated the car for several years until the creation of Amtrak, ownership was transferred to Amtrak in 1971 and they retired the car and sold it into private ownership. Today this stunning car with its glass enclosed lounge is fully Amtrak certified and ready for service. Hollywood Beach is the only remaining car of this series that is in operating condition and has all the amenities available to provide an extremely comfortable journey with an outstanding view. The car basically retains its original floor plan but the current owner added large observation windows at the lounge end of the car so it is now equipped with a sun room observation lounge that offers an outstanding panoramic view. The car is also equipped with five double bedrooms that sleep 10 passengers, a stainless steel bar/kitchen (cook top, convection oven, microwave, refrigerator and freezer and 3 sinks) and shower and restroom facilities. Some of the mechanical details include: Full Amtrak certification, Head End Power, MU, 27 pin, H couplers, diesel generator (40KW John Deere with approx. 3,499 hours), electric heat (floor & OH), A/C (11 tons), markers, APEE bearings, holding tanks, rubber diaphragms, emergency windows, 40 gal hot water tank, emergency lights, 300 gal potable water tank, last PC-1- 10/3/2014, Microphor toilets and holding tank.
