Built in 1955 by American Car & Foundry for the Union Pacific Railroad as a lunch counter/diner. Sold by UP to Amtrak in the 1970's, retired by Amtrak and sold into private ownership and named Lake Erie. This car is in very original condition and has not really been altered with the exception of the addition of a diesel generator which powers the original motor generator that operates all the original D/C electrical equipment. Lake Erie would be great for any tourist or dinner train operation or could be upgraded to operate on mainline excursions. Some of the mechanical details include: Good body & roof, D-22 brake valves with disc brakes, stand up lunch counter, 16 seat dining area (could be used for additional retail space), original Amtrak interior, 40' long bar with stainless sinks and ice refrigeration, steam heat, 32V DC electrical system, overhead water tanks in kitchen (under car tanks also), tons of storage, drink ice storage, Budda diesel generator (approx 25kw), grease bearings, trucks piped for declostats.
