Built in 1949 by American Car & Foundry for the Chicago & North Western Railroad as a Barber Shop/ Lounge. #7900 was built as C&NW's contribution to the Union Pacific streamliners the City of Los Angeles, City of San Francisco and the City of Portland. The car was built with a 38 seat lounge, bar, bar storage room with coolers, Stewards room, Barber Shop and shower. The car is in very original condition with the exception that the Barber Shop & Stewards room were removed to create additional lounge space, the shower and restroom have been left intact. All the lounge furniture is original to the car and in place. Some of the mechanical details include: Good body and roof, D-22 valves, tread brakes, commercial air conditioning system (upright furnace installed on bar storage room), cast shoes, ISSH, H couplers, shower, truck mounted cylinders.
