Built in 1926 by the Pullman Company as the Mt. Tom and was a 10 section, lounge, observation car and operated in Pullman pool service between Chicago & Florida. Purchased by the Louisville & Nashville Railroad in 1948 and rebuilt into a business car for L&N executives and numbered L&N 364. Sold by L&N into private ownership in 1972 and rebuilt for Amtrak charter service. Ohio River can seat fourteen passengers during the day and sleep 8 passengers and 2 crew for overnight trips. The car is equipped with a luxurious observation lounge, four state rooms (sleeps 2 ea) and each state room shares an adjoining bathroom with shower. Past the state rooms is an elegant dining room that will seat 8 for meal service, past the dining room is a crew room and shower and a full service stainless steel kitchen. Ohio River is fully equipped and ready for service, some of the mechanical details include: APEE bearings, comp shoes, 26-C brake valves, 3 axle OSSH trucks with truck mounted cylinders, full HEP, 27 pin communication lines, MU, main reservoir, H couplers, diesel generator, electric baseboard & overhead heat, holding tanks, A clearance (can operate in and out of New York City), air conditioning, marker lights, track lights.
