Built in 1956 by the Pullman Company as a five double bedroom sun room lounge car for the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. The car operated on their famed train the "Silver Meteor" between New York & Florida. Ownership of this unique car was transferred after the merger of the Seaboard Air Line and the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad which formed a new corporation known as Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. SCL operated the car for several years until the creation of Amtrak and then ownership was transferred to Amtrak in 1971. After several years of service, Amtrak retired the car and sold it into private ownership. Hollywood Beach is the only remaining car of this series that is in operating condition and has all the amenities available to provide an extremely comfortable journey with an outstanding view.
